Join us at the Gilchrist Farm Mining Company for a journey back in time to learn about some of the famous women of the Gold Rush!  "Meet" some amazing entrepreneurs who made history turning everyday items (like biscuits) into gold

Visit the Gilchrist Farm Mining Company to step back in time.  Learn firsthand from our special guests in period costume about their lives during the gold rush!

Gilchrist Farm Mining Company: Panning for Gold

Head to the Gilchrist Farm Mining Company to engage in the glory of the gold rush! Try your hand at panning for gold! Learn about our Gold Rush Field Trips for a true deep dive into the Gold Rush of California! Each weekend, head out to the Gilchrist Farm Mining Company to pan for gold during our Farm Visits. Visit us from 9AM-2PM to Pan for Gold! $10.

Gilchrist Farm Mining Company: Gemstone Mining

Adventure back in time to The Gilchrist Farm Mining Company to try your hand at prospecting for gems, minerals, fossils and FUN!!!! Enter history to discover gems like amethyst, quartz, pyrite, and maybe even find fossils or an arrowhead! Each bag of mining rough contains a wonderful mix of gems and fun! Sift, sort and marvel at your discovery! Sluicing adventures available Saturday & Sunday from 9AM-2PM and during all festivals and events. Special packages available for birthday parties, events and field trips.

Old Fashioned Candle Dipping

Visit our craft area to make your own candle! Hand dipping candles takes place during all festivals and during our Farm Visits each Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-2PM. $7.

Wool Spinning

Check out the Farm Animal Visit to meet the lambs and sheep-the source of the wool. Then head over to the craft area to see a demonstration on how to spin wool into yarn! Touch the wool, see the spinning wheel, take a class! We have classes available for learning the full craft of wool spinning-from sheep to spindle! See our classes here or check in at info@gilchristfarm.com to request a private session or session for your troop or group. Pricing from FREE (Wool Spinning Demonstrations), to $15 for a “make and take” session to $35 for a full class.

Pioneer Doll or Action Figure Making

Using fabric scraps just like they used to-hand craft an old fashioned toy to take home. Make skirts or legs, plain or fancy. Learn the art of using what you have to make what you want! $7

Forging at the Farm

During our Spring Farm Camp and Summer Farm Camp, classes and special occasions-Learn to Forge at the Farm! Learn shape metal into everyday items. Make horseshoes into hoof picks, create hooks to hang things on! The possibilities are endless at the forge.
